CURRICULUM
The LSEN Schools follow an adapted CAPS Curriculum according to the learners' needs.
Up until Grade 7 they can still return to the mainstream schools.
ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT
Pre-primary Phase (3 years - Grade R)

The Nursery Department consists of 5 classes and can accommodate a maximum of 60 learners from the age of 3.
Some of the learners function two years lower than their chronological age, and are therefore allowed to remain in the Nursery Department, until they are eight years old, if school readiness has not been obtained.
Foundation Phase (Grade 1-3)
​
The Foundation Phase consists of 5 classes that can accommodate a maximum of 12 learners each.
Class groupings are based on cognitive ability and language. The learners are placed according to grade (Grade 1 – 3).

Intermediate Phase (Grade 4-7)

Consists of 4 classes that can accommodate a total of 45 learners.

Senior Phase (Grade 8-9)
​
Consists of 4 classes that can accommodate a maximum of 12 learners each.
Grade 8 & 9 consists of learners already in the school that are academically not
strong enough to complete school education in a mainstream school.
The learning areas only cover the basics and we focus more on the necessary
skills for our learners to enter the “Building Tomorrow” group at the age of 18 and
job preparation.
